This is where I will be posting and chronicling the transfers of some of my massive collection of classic electronic music.

LIMBO RECORDS - Part 1 Transfers

The first label I am going to focus on transferring is Limbo Records.

Limbo Records began in the summer of 1992 launched from legendary Glasgow record store 23rd Precinct. The label was credited as being the creator of progressive house and the first 3 releases from Havana and Gypsy (4) sold over 20,000 units each.

Here you will find the transfers of Limbo Records catalog numbers LIMBO 001, 003, 005, 007, 008, 009.  My 002 is mysteriously pressed incorrectly and is actually 001, I haven't located 004, and to the best of my knowledge, there actually isn't an 006.  Part 2 coming later this week...

Don't forget to subscribe or bookmark this page so you are notified when updates are posted!

All listed versions on the labels are included!

Limbo Records

The first label I am going to focus on transferring is Limbo Records.

Limbo Records began in the summer of 1992 launched from legendary Glasgow record store 23rd Precinct. The label was credited as being the creator of progressive house and the first 3 releases from Havana and Gypsy (4) sold over 20,000 units each.

I know I definitely have the first 10 releases but so far I've located LIMBO 001, 003, 005, 007, 008, 009, 010T, 011T, 012T, 013T, 014T, 020T.  My copy of LIMBO 002 for some reason is actually the same as 001 and I am missing 004 and 006 of the first 10.  Hope to locate them but I will start without those releases.

About This Blog

If you have been a DJ for as long as I have, you've probably amassed a pretty extensive collection of vinyl.  I have been a DJ since 1986, and have been accumulating records ever since. My collection ranges from super rare to worth less then the sleeve.  Some of these records haven't been played in 20 years, and some I still play whenever I get a chance. It's a daunting task to undertake archiving a collection as large as mine, and obviously not all the records are worth transferring over but when I became the program director for 412live.com, one of the first stations I created was "The Warehouse" which is all classic 80's and 90's (and some very early 2000's) house classics.  About 85% of the music came straight from my collection. The difference was I transferred those records to be used for airplay not archiving.  The purpose of THIS endeavor is to give a second life to some of my collection that for the most part, has never seen the light of the digital world, at least not in any quality form.

I have the first releases of many seminal labels such as Warp, Limbo (who's first releases are said to be some of the beginnings of progressive house), Wonka Beats, Loaded, Junior Boys Own, Moving Shadow, Suburban Base and many more individual releases that I plan on transferring.

I will be using my Technics 1200 turntables, Pioneer mixer into my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 into my laptop at 24bit.  Will remove skips and as many pops and clicks as I can, normalizing the L/R channels and adding a very light bit of mastering (nothing squashing or super limiting).

The setup:
